WA Gold Discovery Yields High Grades

Drill blitz serves up 10.72g/t WA gold for Great Southern
The latest drilling results from Golden Boulder, part of Great Southern Mining’s Duketon Gold Project in Western Australia, are a significant step forward for the company. However, they also raise questions about the potential of this relatively under-explored goldfield.
Golden Boulder has a rich history dating back to 1900, but until now, little was known about what lies beneath the surface. The latest results appear to provide a glimpse of this hidden world, with mineralisation extending up to 45 meters down-dip.
The significance of these findings cannot be overstated. Great Southern Mining’s managing director, Matthew Keane, has been touting the potential for multiple open-pit operations within a relatively small area. The fact that high grades have been found both in the weathered oxide zone near surface and in fresh rock beneath suggests that Golden Boulder could support significant scale.
The discovery of high-grade gold at Golden Boulder is not an isolated event. Great Southern Mining has several other projects within striking distance of operational gold processing facilities, including its Laverton ground, which sits between two major gold camps: Regis Resources’ Rosemont deposit and Genesis Minerals’ Laverton tenure. This location makes it attractive for miners looking to tap into the region’s rich geological history.
As Keane noted, the results from Golden Boulder “highlight the propensity for high-grades both in the shallow oxide zone and continuing at depth into fresh rock.” The implications of these findings are clear: if Golden Boulder and the wider Duketon Gold Project are indeed as significant as they seem, we can expect to see increased investment in the sector.
The discovery of major gold camps like Kalgoorlie’s Super Pit and the Granny Smith deposit by AngloGold Ashanti in the 1990s highlights the potential for significant growth in the region. If Golden Boulder is able to deliver on its promise, it could lead to a new wave of investment in Western Australia’s gold sector.
Great Southern Mining has multiple projects vying for attention, but if Golden Boulder’s results are anything to go by, it seems likely that the focus will remain firmly on the Duketon Gold Project for some time to come. The real test will be how effectively the company can convert these promising results into tangible assets, and whether it will be able to deliver on the scale and potential that Keane and his team have been touting.
Only time – and a lot more drilling – will tell if Great Southern Mining is onto something big.

While the discovery of high-grade gold at Golden Boulder is undoubtedly exciting, we can't get carried away with the hype. The real question is whether Great Southern Mining's Duketon Gold Project can maintain its momentum and deliver on its promise. With multiple projects scattered across Western Australia, it's crucial to assess the company's ability to prioritize and scale up production sustainably. Investors should be paying close attention to operational efficiency and cost management as much as they are to exploration results.

The drill blitz results from Golden Boulder are indeed impressive, but let's not get carried away just yet. The area has a long history of patchy exploration, and we still don't know how extensive these high-grade pockets are. What I'd like to see next is some detailed geospatial analysis to understand the mineralisation patterns and identify potential hotspots for further drilling. Great Southern Mining's MD might be talking up multiple open-pit ops, but without a clearer understanding of the geological framework, it's hard to separate hype from substance in this project.

While the latest drilling results from Golden Boulder are undoubtedly exciting, we can't ignore the elephant in the room: infrastructure. Great Southern Mining's Duketon Gold Project is situated in a region with a proven track record of gold discoveries, but accessing those resources requires more than just high-grade ore. The real challenge lies in building the necessary infrastructure to support large-scale mining operations – roads, power lines, and processing facilities all come at a significant cost. Can Great Southern Mining secure the funding needed to bring Golden Boulder into production? That's what investors will be watching closely.
