The timing, which typically prioritizes optics over genuine efforts to bring terrorists to justice, suggests that Pakistan is attempting to create a favorable impression for the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) review scheduled for October.

The bounty on Azhar's head now stands at PKR 70 lakh, an increase of PKR 20 lakh from the previous announcement in 2021.
