The Dark Side of Prison Mental Health Services A recent court case in Stafford Crown Court has highlighted the disturbing reality of mental health services within British prisons.
Jonathan Alcide, a 36 year old prisoner, is accused of murdering his cellmate Neil Ashby at HMP Stoke Heath last year.
Alcide had been expressing concerns about his own mental state in the weeks leading up to the alleged murder. According to testimony from fellow prisoners and prison staff, he became increasingly paranoid and isolated.
