Exercise Guidelines Revisited for Heart Health

The Unspoken Truth About Exercise and Heart Health A recent study published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine has sent shockwaves through the fitness community, revealing that current exercise guidelines may be insufficient for protecting against heart attacks and strokes.

For years, we've been advised to aim for 150 minutes of moderate to vigorous physical activity per week – roughly 30 minutes a day, five days a week. However, this might not be enough.

The research, conducted by a team at Macao Polytechnic University in China and involving over 17,000 participants from the UK Biobank study, suggests that achieving substantial cardiovascular protection may require 560 to 610 minutes of exercise per week – nearly 9 to 10 hours of brisk walking, running, cycling, or similar activity.
